We are looking for a Head Housekeeper to join our team at Willow Bank Residential Home near Throckmorton & Evesham, Worcestershire. The successful candidate will have ample cleaning experience and also possess leadership qualities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • To provide a safe, effective and high quality domestic service to the residents at Willow Bank House by leading the domestic team to ensure the clean and hygienic maintenance of the home and to provide a range of ‘hotel’ services
  • To work in partnership with the Registered Manager, Deputy Manager, staff and residents to provide that service
  • To be responsible for the domestic team comprising housekeeper, cleaning assistants and laundry assistant and to deploy the resources in the most effective manner
  • To work in a cooperative manner with the Registered Manager, Deputy Manager and Head Cook to ensure the smooth running of Willow Bank House
  • To provide support to the Registered Manager in the performance of their duties and the achievement of the home’s objectives

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

  • Hands on experience at the operational level, of the provision of domestic services in a care home
  • Awareness of the effective deployment and management of staff at the operational level
  • Awareness of the relevant National Minimum care standards and regulations with respect to the care home
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety at work requirements
  • Knowledge of COSHH
  • Knowledge of infection control methods
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  6. To respond to the call bell system and answering the front door to visitors, answer the telephone as needed.

  12. To deliver meals and clean away afterward.
  13. To make safe any area of risk and report immediately, cleaning up spills to avoid risk.

  • The domestic assistant is primarily responsible for carrying out general cleaning duties as required and for maintaining cleaning standards as required in order to keep the home one of excellence.
  • Daily cleaning of lounges, dining room, bedrooms and their en-suites, stairs, corridors, office areas, bathrooms, lift and toilets.
  • According to the cleaning schedule, cleaning paintwork, curtains, curtain rails, high dusting, internal glass, mirrors and spot cleaning of carpets as required.
  • Assist with bed making.
  • Report any defects in furniture, fittings and equipment to the Manager and write in the maintenance book.
  • Correct use of cleaning materials.
  • Correct use of personal protective equipment supplied by the home.
  • Correct use of equipment.
  • Participation in staff meetings, training courses, health & safety and fire training and drills.
  • Complete mandatory training such as infection control and COSHH.
  • At times support with laundry.

We are looking for a kitchen assistant to join our fantastic kitchen team at the Firs Residential Home, in Budleigh Salterton (near Exmouth, East Devon). The shifts required are for every other weekend 8am-6pm).

Principal Responsibilities:

  • To assist in the preparation of meals to the required standard
  • To assist in the economical use of materials
  • To support the chef in the effective operation of the kitchen

Key Accountabilities:

  • To actively contribute in the preparation of food and the cleaning of the kitchen area as instructed by the Chef
  • To be aware of the residents’ needs and dietary preferences
  • To hold a suitable food hygiene certificate and attend any other mandatory training on- or off-site as required
  • To prepare food in a hygienic manner
  • To prepare the meals for distribution to the residents of the home ensuring that appropriate temperatures are maintained
  • To ensure that all food is used within the prescribed period, with particular attention paid to perishable goods
  • To dispose of waste correctly
  • To store all delivered goods adequately, appropriately and securely
  • To maintain the kitchen equipment, as specified by the respective manufacturers
  • To ensure that all equipment and cleaning materials are properly used, kept clean, not abused and replaced in the proper places where they are kept when not in use
  • To ensure that the company’s general policies and procedures are read and understood
  • Maintain such records as are required by the registering authorities
  • Ensure that all information of a confidential nature gained in the course of work is not disclosed to third parties
  • Notify the Home Manager as soon as possible of your inability to report for duty and also upon your return to work from all periods of absence
  • Ensure that the kitchen is left in a clean and hygienic state at all times
  • To attend staff meetings as required
  • To keep a high standard of personal cleanliness and appearance, to include the wearing of the specified uniform
  • Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you
