Last week we had a lovely visit from Bodster Equine Centre – Tippy the pony came to see us! So many residents came out to give him a stroke and Tippy was almost asleep at the end of the session. Thanks for the visit Bodster!

All are invited – our residents, their relatives, staff, colleagues, district nurses, social services, doctors, prospective staff or residents….any one who wants to have a look around our beautiful grounds. On Sunday we had a very special day at Blackwater Mill Residential Home. Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the Isle of Wight, Major General Martin White, visited us to present one of our residents, John Higgins with the Légion d’Honneur. This is the highest decoration one can receive in France. It was presented to Mr Higgins to thank him for the part he played in the D day landings, helping to free the European continent from the Nazis. At Blackwater we held a big party for him where the marine band came to play and local papers attended! All the other residents had a great time joining in and watching the show. Thank you to all who attended.

For the last few months we have been working hard on revamping our website. You are now looking at the finished product!

We have filled the site with plenty of information about each home, a great News & Events page which we will use to update friends and relatives on the weekly goings-on at each home and lots of lovely new photos of our residents, staff and homes.

In addition, we are able to accept job applications via the site so please have a browse if you are interested in working for us and don’t hesitate to fill out the form.

With summer just around the corner and the sunshine beginning to make regular appearances, there are lots of fun activities going on at many of the Buckland Care homes.

Woodland Court residents have been delighted with their weekly ice cream van which comes around on a Friday to give out ice creams and lollies for everyone to enjoy in the sun.

Over at Kingland House, residents have taken every sunny opportunity to take a stroll around the lake in neighbouring Poole Park, stopping for a coffee and to admire the lake wildlife.

Merry Hall has just extended its dining room to include a lovely bright and airy conservatory – finishing just in time for summer!

At Willow Bank, our residents have their Spring Fête to look forward to on the 21st May – please come along and join in the fun!
