The residents at the Orchards Residential Home in Wroughton, near Swindon, have created a beautiful display ahead of Easter in their pottery class. Clay daffodils, Easter eggs and Easter bunnies all make up this stunning Easter basket – well done everyone! Happy Easter!
Last week we had our annual summer garden party! We were fortunate enough to have glorious weather and were joined by around 150 people. We had a delicious hog roast, refreshments and our chef Freddie’s famous punch 🙂
The kids had a ball on the bouncy castle and other entertainment included Mike Amatt from the orginal ‘Herman’s Hermits’ singing for us!
Thank you to everyone who came down to join us and thank you for all the raffle gifts donated by the book club, families, staff and everyone else – we made £400 for the residents’ fund!
This week we all went strawberry picking at a local strawberry farm. We collected plenty of delicious strawberries and had a great time!
At the Orchards we have been working hard at our entry into the annual Wroughton Scarecrow competition. With the theme being heroes this year, we have paid tribute to the founder of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale. Also fondly known as the Lady with the Lamp, Florence played a very important role in formalising nursing education and setting up training for nurses and midwives in workhouse infirmaries.
For the last few months we have been working hard on revamping our website. You are now looking at the finished product!
We have filled the site with plenty of information about each home, a great News & Events page which we will use to update friends and relatives on the weekly goings-on at each home and lots of lovely new photos of our residents, staff and homes.
In addition, we are able to accept job applications via the site so please have a browse if you are interested in working for us and don’t hesitate to fill out the form.

Over at Kingland House, residents have taken every sunny opportunity to take a stroll around the lake in neighbouring Poole Park, stopping for a coffee and to admire the lake wildlife.
Merry Hall has just extended its dining room to include a lovely bright and airy conservatory – finishing just in time for summer!
At Willow Bank, our residents have their Spring Fête to look forward to on the 21st May – please come along and join in the fun!
