Woodland Court residents enjoy a ‘paw-some’ day at Dach Fest

Residents from Woodland Court Residential Home enjoyed a day out with a difference recently when they found themselves surrounded by hundreds of four-legged “sausages” at Dach Fest.
The Torquay care home took a group of residents along to the festival dedicated entirely to dachshunds – and it proved to be a huge hit.
From tiny dachshunds to long-haired, smooth-haired and particularly enthusiastic ones, there were dogs everywhere the residents looked, prompting plenty of smiles, laughter and more than a few “awwws” throughout the day.
The visit was made possible with the help of relatives Claire and Alan, who helped organise the trip and joined residents for the day.
Sammy, Home Manager at Woodland Court, said: “I don’t think any of us have ever seen so many sausage dogs in one place!
“It was such a fun day and the residents absolutely loved it. There was so much to see and plenty to make us laugh. The dogs were obviously the stars of the show and there were lots of opportunities for residents to stop, watch them and simply enjoy being part of it all.
“We’re always looking for different experiences and days out that we think our residents will genuinely enjoy, and this one certainly delivered. We’d give the day 10 out of 10 – and the sausages 11 out of 10!
“A huge thank you must go to Claire and Alan for helping to make the trip happen. We’re very lucky to have relatives who get involved in life at Woodland Court and help us create lovely experiences like this for our residents.”
