Buckland in Bloom: A Blossoming Celebration Across Our Homes

Spring has officially sprung, and our care homes across Buckland have been celebrating in full bloom with a joyful series of Buckland in Bloom events. From flower arranging and live music to colourful crafts and cream teas, it’s been a week of sunshine, laughter, and beautiful moments shared with residents, families, and friends.

At Willow Bank, the team marked the season—and Mother’s Day—with a wonderful floral workshop led by talented floral artist Natalie. Residents were invited to create their own flower arrangements using a wide selection of fresh blooms. The room filled with the sweet scent of spring as everyone got stuck in, each person adding their own creative flair to their display. From classic bouquets to quirky, modern designs, every arrangement was a reflection of the resident behind it. “It was lovely seeing everyone so involved and happy,” Natalie said. “There’s real beauty in the way flowers bring people together.”

Meanwhile, The Firs came alive with music and merriment as residents and guests enjoyed live entertainment from the brilliant Patrick, alongside arts and crafts and delicious cream teas. The sound of laughter and conversation filled the home as friends caught up over a scone (or two!), and residents joined in on flower-themed activities that brightened everyone’s afternoon.

Mulberry House threw open its doors to welcome loved ones and the local community for their celebration. With the ever-popular Peter Mac Dell providing the soundtrack, the home was full of energy and joy—complete with dancing, singing, and plenty of smiles. Guests helped residents plant vibrant flowers and pot seeds, with planters now dotted around the home in full spring colour. Each visitor also received a gift of wildflower seeds to take home, a small token of thanks for helping make the day so special.

Over at Kingland House, things got a little competitive with a plant pot decorating contest! Everyone gave it a go, but it was Paula who scooped the top prize—a hamper full of treats—for her winning creation. Alongside the crafting fun, residents and guests enjoyed planting a variety of seeds, including sunflowers, lupins, and poppies. The whole afternoon was full of cheer, and the team were thrilled to see so many familiar faces joining in.

Across all of our homes, Buckland in Bloom has been a chance to celebrate the new season in the best way possible—surrounded by nature, creativity, and good company. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us. Here’s to more memory-making moments as the days grow brighter and the gardens continue to grow.
