Exciting Visit Uncovers Wartime History at The Firs Care Home

The Firs Care Home was delighted to welcome a member of staff from the local Budleigh Salterton library recently, who brought along fascinating wartime history documents related to their beloved care home. The visit has sparked great excitement among our residents and staff as we delve into the past and explore these intriguing pieces of history.

Among the treasures was an article detailing the experiences of evacuees from London, who were served a hearty meal at The Firs Hostel. We are now on a mission to uncover if this historical account indeed pertains to The Firs Care Home.

Home Manager Nikki said “We would like to say a huge heartfelt thank you to local author Sean Kelly, whose assistance has been invaluable in our investigation. His dedication and expertise are greatly appreciated as we piece together this remarkable chapter of our history”.

We invite anyone with more information about The Firs during wartime to contact us and share their stories. Your contributions can help us build a richer, more detailed picture of our home’s legacy.

Thank you for your continued support and interest in our journey through history.
