In a delightful start to the new year, residents at Blackwater Mill care home shared their wishes for 2024, hoping for simple joys and memorable moments. Two of their cherished residents, Rose and Glenys, expressed a heartfelt desire to enjoy a warm cup of tea or coffee, accompanied by scrumptious cake, all whilst taking in a scenic view.
Heeding their wish, on a crisp Tuesday morning, the 9th of January, the home arranged a special outing. Residents Kathleen, Trixie, and Imelda, Rose and Glenys were taken to the charming Blueberry’s Café in Shanklin. It was a day filled with laughter, reminiscing, and the comfort of familiar tastes and sights.
As they sat in the cosy café, the residents relished a variety of scones and cakes, paired with ample cups of tea and coffee. The highlight, however, was the breathtaking view of the shimmering sea, where they watched boats sail gracefully by, evoking a sense of peace and nostalgia.
Reflecting on this heartwarming experience, the home’s manager shared, “It is great that we are able to fulfil the wishes of our residents. Such moments are a gentle reminder of the joys of life and the importance of cherishing every day.”
Trixie, one of our spirited residents, commented, “This outing brought back so many memories. I love being by the sea.” Meanwhile, Rose added, “It is lovely to have a change of scenery, and I really enjoyed the scones and tea.”
The manager went on to say “At our home, we believe in making every moment count and in bringing smiles to the faces of our residents. This outing to Blueberry’s Café was not just about enjoying tea and cake; it was about fulfilling dreams, sharing stories, and creating new memories. It is these small gestures that make life truly special for our residents”.
