Miniature Pony Brings Big Smiles to The Firs Residential Home

Residents at The Firs Residential Home were treated to a very special visitor this week – Pepa the miniature therapy pony.

Pepa trotted in with perfectly plaited hair and painted hooves, ready to charm everyone she met. And she did just that. Residents gathered to stroke, feed, and enjoy some gentle one-to-one time with their four-legged guest, who was calm, friendly, and clearly used to stealing the spotlight.

The visit was arranged in partnership with Tiny Hooves Therapy Ponies Devon, whose team specialises in bringing joy and connection through therapeutic animal visits.

Lucy Fowler, who helped organise the day, said:
“It was a truly magical afternoon. You could see the joy on everyone’s faces – Pepa brought so much happiness and calm with her. We’re incredibly grateful to Tiny Hooves for making it all possible.”

Animal therapy has been shown to reduce anxiety, lower blood pressure and spark fond memories – and for the residents at The Firs, Pepa’s visit did just that.

The team are already looking forward to welcoming her back.
