We were very lucky to have 14 members of the Prince’s Trust at Woodland Court Residential Home over the past few weeks. The Prince’s Trust Team Programme is a 12-week self-development programme for young people aged between 16-25, which helps develop motivation, confidence and life skills. The hard-working team brainstormed ideas with our residents and staff and came up with the project of making our back garden area more accessible and sensory. They firstly raised funds from sponsors by bag packing at ASDA, washing cars at the Gosport Fire Service and taking part in a 10km sponsored walk. They then proceeded to work extremely hard to make their plans a reality, using brightly coloured paints, strong-scented plants and flowers, creating a fish pond with fountain and making the garden generally more accessible.
The residents and staff very much enjoyed having the team around – each and every one of the Prince’s Trust have been fantastic – thank you all so much! The final day saw residents, staff and The Prince’s Trust enjoy a BBQ meal and celebratory cakes in the newly finished gardens.
