There’s no greater love than the unconditional affection of a pet, and that was clear to see when three very special visitors arrived at West Bank Care Home last Friday. Oreo, Hetty, and Crunchie, a trio of adorable therapy cats, spread warmth, joy, and plenty of cuddles throughout the home, making Valentine’s Day one to remember.
The visit was made possible thanks to Sue and the wonderful team at New Start Cat Rescue, who kindly brought the feline friends in to meet residents. The impact was immediate—smiles lit up the room as residents stroked, cuddled, and bonded with their furry guests. For many, the visit was a heartwarming reminder of pets they had loved over the years, sparking treasured memories and conversations.
Judy, The home manager shared: “The happiness and comfort these cats brought was incredible. Seeing our residents’ faces light up, hearing their laughter, and watching them relax as they interacted with the cats was just wonderful. It was a truly special way to complete our Valentine’s celebrations.”
Research has shown that animal therapy can have profound benefits, particularly for older adults, reducing stress, lowering blood pressure, and even easing feelings of loneliness. At West Bank Care Home, the experience was a perfect example of how small moments of connection can make a big difference.
A huge thank you to New Start Cat Rescue for their kindness in making this visit possible – Oreo, Hetty, and Crunchie certainly left paw prints on everyone’s hearts!
