There were smiles all round at The Firs Care Home as residents and staff took centre stage for the home’s very first karaoke afternoon — and what a hit it was!
The lounge and bar area were filled with music, laughter, and a few surprise performances as residents gathered to sing along to much-loved classics by George Formby, Cliff Richard, and Vera Lynn. With tasty snacks, refreshing drinks, and a warm, lively atmosphere, the event proved to be a perfect pick-me-up for a grey November day.
The highlight of the afternoon came when Maintenance Man Dave took to the mic for a brilliant rendition of Mamma Mia! — earning a huge round of applause from everyone.
Home Manager Nikki said:
“It was such a joy to see everyone singing, smiling, and joining in. Music has a wonderful way of lifting spirits and bringing people together, and the karaoke afternoon was a huge success. We’re already planning the next one!”
With residents already choosing their next songs, it looks like karaoke could become a regular feature at The Firs — a chance to relive favourite tunes, share memories, and, most importantly, sing their hearts out.
