Residents and staff from The Firs, Budleigh Salterton, enjoyed a wonderful afternoon at Exmouth Beach this week – proving that even on a cooler day, good company, sea air, and the simple joy of ice cream by the sea can lift spirits.
Thanks to the wonderful support of Exmouth Beach Wheelchairs, residents were able to access the shoreline comfortably using specialised beach-friendly wheelchairs. Wrapped up warm against the breeze, the group took a gentle stroll along the coast, soaking in the fresh sea air and taking in the views.
The highlight of the day came quite literally out of the blue – a Chinook helicopter made a surprise appearance, circling overhead several times to the delight of everyone. It was a truly unforgettable moment that had smiles stretching from ear to ear.
No trip to the seaside would be complete without an ice cream, and residents tucked in happily before heading home.
“We’re so grateful to Exmouth Beach Wheelchairs for making this outing possible,” said Nikki, Home Manager at The Firs. “It’s days like these that bring everyone together. The laughter, the fresh air, and that amazing flyover – it’s a memory we’ll all treasure.”
