Residents at The Firs Care Home were treated to a surprise burst of summer recently, as staff transformed their usual dessert service into a full-on fruity affair—complete with costumes, cones, and plenty of laughter.
In a heartwarming display of creativity and care, two team members dressed up as a giant strawberry and pineapple to serve homemade sundaes and banana splits from a colourful ice cream trolley, adorned with knitted fruit decorations and all the classic toppings.
The themed trolley, complete with stripy canopy, was rolled room to room, spreading smiles and bringing a light-hearted twist to the afternoon. Residents could choose from a selection of treats, including fresh fruit, sauces, sprinkles, and scoops of ice cream served with a side of humour.
Home Manager Nikki said:
“It was such a simple idea, but it brought so much joy. The costumes were a hit, and the residents really enjoyed the extra attention to detail. We’re always looking for ways to make everyday moments that little bit more special.”
The event is part of The Firs’ ongoing commitment to creating meaningful experiences and keeping life at the home engaging and uplifting for residents.
