The Firs Residential Home Welcomes South Devon College Students for Work Experience

Last week, The Firs Residential Home had the privilege of hosting Year 10 students from South Devon College for an enriching afternoon of work experience. The visit offered a unique opportunity for the students to engage with residents, learn from their life stories, and share their own aspirations for the future.

The atmosphere was filled with warmth and camaraderie as two generations came together to exchange stories. Residents reminisced about their past careers, offering invaluable insights and advice, while the students shared their dreams and future plans, bringing fresh perspectives and inspiration.

These intergenerational interactions proved to be a rewarding experience for all involved. The students gained an understanding of the care environment and the importance of building relationships, while residents enjoyed the youthful energy and the chance to pass on their wisdom.

The Firs Residential Home is committed to creating opportunities that enrich both the lives of its residents and the wider community. This visit was a shining example of how collaboration can foster mutual respect and understanding between generations.

We are delighted to announce that we’ll be welcoming more students in the near future. The team at The Firs looks forward to continuing this meaningful partnership with South Devon College.
