Working in the care profession is one of the most rewarding jobs, yet it can come with its share of challenges. At Westbank Care Home, we recognise these realities and are committed to ensuring that staff and the families they work with are well-supported through every step of the journey.
Westbank Care Home has made it a priority to nurture this sense of community within their care home and recently, they held a team-building exercise aimed at fostering positivity and connection. Each staff member was given the name of another colleague from a different role and asked to write something positive about them. This simple, yet powerful exercise brought out the best in their staff, helping them appreciate one another and strengthen the bonds that make teamwork so effective at Westbank.
They were incredibly pleased with how staff embraced the activity, demonstrating the supportive and inclusive environment they strive to create every day.
As a result, they have introduced a new addition to their home— a *Positive Tree*. This tree stands as a symbol of the roots of teamwork, with each note of praise and appreciation serving as a reminder of the strong foundation they have built together.
At its core, it represents the belief that care is not only about looking after others but also about caring for those who provide that care.
By creating spaces where staff feel valued and supported, Westbank is proactively addressing the pressures that come with care work.

Adding “This exercise has not only lifted spirits but also reminded everyone of the value each person brings to the team.”
