Woodland Court Residential Home in Portchester, Hampshire, embraced the Easter season by
welcoming some new feathered friends. Incredible Eggs provided a hatching kit of six eggs, which all
hatched successfully, delighting the residents and staff alike. The first duckling, born at 12am, was
aptly named Midnight, while the other five ducklings received Easter-themed biblical names: John,
Paul, Peter, Gabrielle, and little Judas, who hatched a day later than his siblings.
Charlotte Harman, Registered Manager of Woodland Court, expressed her delight at the residents’ enthusiasm for the ducklings. “The residents loved watching the eggs hatch and tracking the progress one by one. They would visit the incubator daily to check on the eggs and watch the ducklings grow after
they were born. They even had the opportunity to give the ducklings their first bath on Sunday,
which they thoroughly enjoyed.”
Since the ducklings’ departure, the residents have been eager to know when they can expect more,
as the experience brought smiles to their faces. The ducklings also attracted visits from many staff
members’ children, further contributing to the joyful atmosphere at Woodland Court.
One of the care staff, who has a family farm, has taken the ducklings in, ensuring they have a good
home where they can roam freely and enjoy themselves. The staff member plans to keep the
residents updated on the ducklings’ progress and hopes to bring them back for a visit in the near
future.
