Residents at The Firs Care Home in Budleigh Salterton enjoyed a wonderful armchair adventure to the Netherlands, exploring the sights, tastes and traditions of the country without needing to pack a single bag.

The themed activity gave residents the chance to learn more about Dutch culture, from its famous canals and historic landmarks to its food, flowers and colourful traditions.

As part of the experience, residents sampled a selection of Dutch delicacies, which proved very popular. The tasting session sparked plenty of conversation, with residents sharing memories of previous visits to the Netherlands and chatting about places they had travelled to over the years.

The home was also filled with a bright display of tulips, which quickly became one of the highlights of the day. The flowers brought a real sense of colour and joy to the activity, helping to create the feeling of a springtime visit to the Netherlands.

The armchair adventure was designed to support reminiscence, curiosity and connection, encouraging residents to share stories while enjoying a fun and sensory experience.
