Residents at The Firs Residential Home in Budleigh Salterton were treated to a morning of music, memories and plenty of rock ’n’ roll as they celebrated National Elvis Week.
The home marked the occasion with an Elvis-themed morning, giving residents the chance to test their knowledge of the King of Rock ’n’ Roll with quizzes, learn more about his remarkable life and, of course, listen to some of his best-loved songs.
But staff had one more surprise up their sleeves – a special visit from Elvis himself.
Residents were delighted when the King made an appearance, bringing plenty of smiles, laughter and Elvis magic to the home.
The morning also gave residents the opportunity to reminisce as familiar songs brought back memories of Elvis and the era in which he became one of the biggest stars in the world.
Emma, Home Manager at The Firs, said: “It was such a lovely morning. Music has an amazing way of bringing people together and sparking memories, and there were lots of smiles as soon as those familiar Elvis songs started playing.
“The surprise appearance from Elvis was the icing on the cake. Everyone really got into the spirit of it and we had lots of fun. As they say, Elvis may have left the building, but he certainly left plenty of smiles behind!”
