Residents and staff across Buckland Care Homes came together to mark VE Day with heartfelt celebrations, nostalgic entertainment, and a whole lot of community spirit.
From wartime songs and singalongs to traditional cream teas and homemade bunting, homes across the group honoured the occasion with joy, respect and plenty of smiles. Many residents shared their memories of the day World War II ended in Europe, while others donned 1940s-style outfits and raised a toast to the generation who lived through it.
“It was a day of reflection, but also of celebration,” said a spokesperson for Buckland Care. “Our residents hold so many stories from that era, and VE Day gives us a special opportunity to listen, learn, and show our appreciation in a way that brings people together.”
The celebrations were a true team effort, with staff going above and beyond to make the day memorable. At each home, the focus was on creating meaningful moments—whether that meant dancing to Glenn Miller, sharing stories over tea and cake, or simply spending time together in the sunshine.
Buckland Care Homes are proud to recognise important national events like VE Day as part of their commitment to wellbeing, connection, and creating a true home-from-home.
