Residents and team members across Buckland Care’s homes came together this week to pay their respects and remember those who served, marking Remembrance Day with heartfelt tributes and community spirit.
Each home observed the occasion in their own special way — from creating poppy displays and remembrance gardens to hosting moving services of reflection. Residents shared personal memories of loved ones who served, while staff ensured the day was one of dignity, gratitude, and togetherness.
At many homes, residents helped make handmade poppies, wreaths, and artwork for displays around their lounges and entrance halls. Some joined local community services, while others watched the national two-minute silence together, wearing their poppies with pride.
Music, poetry, and conversation played a central part in the commemorations, with several homes inviting local schools and community groups to join for readings and remembrance activities. These moments offered residents the opportunity to pass on stories of courage and sacrifice to younger generations.
A spokesperson for Buckland Care said:
“Remembrance Day is an incredibly important time for our residents and team members. It’s a day to come together, reflect, and give thanks to those who gave so much. Across all our homes, it’s been wonderful to see such meaningful tributes — created with care, love, and respect.”
As a family-run care group, Buckland Care prides itself on nurturing connection and honouring tradition, and Remembrance Day remains a poignant and much-valued date in the calendar.
