In the heart of our Blackwater Mill community, a remarkable celebration took place on Sunday, 7th January, as Joan, one of our cherished residents, turned 102 years young. The day was filled with joy, laughter, and, most importantly, dancing!

Joan’s morning began with a shower of love, as she was greeted with heartfelt cards and thoughtful presents. Her room, transformed into a festive haven, sparkled with decorations, reflecting the bright spirit she brings to Blackwater Mill every day.

Over the festive season, Joan had expressed a wish to experience the elegance of ballroom dancing again. Always keen to make dreams come true, we invited Strictly Dance IW to turn this wish into a magical reality. As the afternoon sun shone, Strictly Dance IW graced us with a breathtaking display of dance styles. They wove stories of famous entertainers who share Joan’s special day, setting the stage for what was to become a highlight of the celebration.

With the room cheering her on, Joan took to the dance floor. Graceful and full of life, she twirled and danced, finishing with a flourish that brought cheers and applause from everyone present. Her joy was infectious, encouraging other residents to join in and share the dance floor. It was a scene of pure delight, where age was just a number, and the rhythm of life was celebrated.

The festivities culminated with a delicious birthday cake and a hearty rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’, sung with love and warmth by all.
