There were wagging tails, plenty of cuddles and smiles all round at Inglefield Nursing & Residential Home in Totland, on the Isle of Wight, when a very special four-legged visitor came to say hello.
Cooper, the home’s much-loved visiting therapy dog, returned for another afternoon of cuddles, companionship and, of course, plenty of belly rubs.
The friendly pooch made his way around the home, spending time with residents who were delighted to welcome him back. From gentle strokes and warm cuddles to simply enjoying his company, Cooper certainly made himself at home.
Visits from animals can be particularly beneficial for older people, offering opportunities for companionship, relaxation and emotional connection. For those who have owned pets in the past, they can also bring back happy memories and encourage conversations about much-loved furry friends.
Charlotte, Home Manager at Inglefield Nursing & Residential Home, part of the family-run Buckland Care group, said:
“Cooper is always such a welcome visitor, and it’s lovely to see the smiles he brings to everyone’s faces.
“There’s something very special about the connection between animals and people. Whether it’s enjoying a cuddle, stroking his soft fur or simply watching him potter around, our residents really enjoy spending time with him.
“He certainly gets plenty of fuss and attention when he’s here, and I think it’s fair to say he enjoys his visits just as much as we do!
“We’re already looking forward to welcoming him back.”
