Hartwell Lodge Celebrates Burn’s Night with Haggis, Bagpipes, and Tradition

Residents and staff at Hartwell Lodge came together on 25th January for a spirited celebration of Burn’s Night, honouring Scotland’s national poet, Robert Burns, with an afternoon full of warmth, laughter, and tradition.
The festivities began with a classic lunch of haggis, neeps, and tatties – a true nod to Scottish heritage. The comforting meal brought smiles to many faces and sparked conversations about cherished traditions and memories.
The highlight of the day was the return of Tom Smith, the talented bagpiper who has become a Hartwell Lodge favourite. For the second year running, Tom filled the home with the stirring sound of traditional Scottish bagpipes, creating an atmosphere that was both joyful and reflective. Residents clapped along, and some even joined in a little foot-tapping as the music brought the event to life.
Jennifer Daly, Home Manager at Hartwell Lodge, said:
“Burn’s Night is such a special occasion here at Hartwell Lodge. It’s wonderful to see everyone coming together to celebrate not just Scottish culture, but the joy of shared traditions. Tom’s performance was incredible as always, and it was lovely to see so many smiles throughout the day.”
At Hartwell Lodge, celebrating cultural traditions is an important part of life, creating opportunities for residents to reminisce, connect, and enjoy something truly meaningful.
