Hartwell Lodge Care Home in Fareham is proudly taking part in this year’s National Tree Week, thanks to the generous support of Garsons Garden Centre.
Residents and staff recently visited Garsons to choose a tree, selecting a Victoria plum as the perfect addition to their garden – a tree they felt would thrive in the grounds and bring plenty of joy (and fruit) for years to come. The planting will take place on Thursday 27th November, marking a special moment for everyone involved.
Jennifer Daly, Home Manager at Hartwell Lodge, shared her appreciation:
“We’re deeply grateful to Garson’s for their generous donation of a fruit tree for our staff and residents to plant during National Tree Week. This thoughtful gift not only strengthens our sense of community and shared purpose but also contributes to a greener, healthier environment for everyone to enjoy.”

Rachael Rogers from Garsons added:
“It’s wonderful to hear about the positive impact you’re creating through connecting with nature, and we’re happy to be part of it. We hope you and your residents have just as much enjoyment from planting the tree as part of your celebration as we did providing it.”

The initiative has sparked real enthusiasm within the home. Planting the tree offers residents a meaningful, hands-on activity and strengthens Hartwell Lodge’s ongoing focus on wellbeing and connection with nature.
Hartwell Lodge looks forward to watching the Victoria plum tree flourish – a lasting reminder of community kindness and shared purpose.
