A relaxing morning of planting and conversation recently brought smiles and special memories at The Firs, as one resident enjoyed reconnecting with a pastime he has long loved.
Green-fingered resident Norman spent the morning planting beautiful pansies for the home’s garden display, giving him the chance to enjoy the colours, textures and scents of gardening in a way that felt accessible and familiar.
For residents who love being outdoors but may sometimes find it harder to get outside, simple activities like this can make a real difference. Bringing elements of the outdoors inside can help people stay connected to lifelong hobbies, spark memories and create meaningful moments of joy.
The vibrant colours and aromas of the pansies led to plenty of lovely conversation, with Norman sharing memories and enjoying the calm, familiar pleasure that gardening can bring.
Amanda, home manager at The Firs said:
“Norman really enjoyed spending time planting the pansies, and it was lovely to see how much it meant to him. Gardening holds so many happy memories for people, so being able to bring a little of that indoors for residents who may struggle to get outside is a simple but really meaningful thing to do.”
At The Firs, creating these moments is an important part of daily life. Whether it is through favourite hobbies, familiar routines or sensory experiences that bring comfort and connection, the team understands that wellbeing is often found in the little things.
Sometimes, the simplest pleasures really do bring the greatest happiness.
