Residents and staff of Mulberry House Care Home, a proud member of the Buckland Care family, embarked on a cultural journey that transported them straight to the heart of China. The day was a vivid tapestry of flavours, laughter, and poignant moments, marking the first stop in a series of global adventures.
Claire and Nicola, the home’s dedicated Activity Coordinators, worked their magic to turn Mulberry House into a slice of China. Small hanging dragons floated in the air, and vibrant masks brought an extra splash of colour to the walls. The atmosphere was palpable, filled with the excitement of the day ahead.
Katie, the Kitchen Manager, was the culinary artist behind a Chinese Takeaway style lunch that had everyone eagerly awaiting mealtime. Aromatic scents of soy, ginger, and garlic wafted through the home, setting the stage for a gastronomic experience. Care staff, embracing their roles as servers for the day, offered residents an array of dishes that delighted the palate.
The day was not just a feast for the stomach but also for the soul. Games like “Pin the Tail on the Dragon” and “Noodle Mayhem” provided much-needed laughter and camaraderie. Residents and staff alike took turns trying to transfer slippery, oily noodles between bowls using chopsticks, filling the room with cheers and light-hearted chatter.
Helen, the Home Manager, was visibly moved by the day’s events. “It’s days like these that make me proud to be part of the Buckland Care family,” she said. “Seeing our residents so engaged and happy is truly special. I’m already looking forward to our French-themed day next month.”
