Anyone for Tennis? Care Home Residents Celebrate the Wimbledon Final

What a day it was at Mulberry House Residential Home in Bovey Tracey! Our lovely residents gathered in the Aviary lounge to catch the 136th Wimbledon Finals, and let me tell you, the atmosphere was electric. Claire and Nicola, our brilliant Wellbeing and Activities Coordinators, went all out. We had Pimms, strawberries & cream, and even a game of Balloon Tennis to get everyone in the Wimbledon spirit.

Alan, one of our residents, was absolutely glued to the screen for both the ladies and men’s finals. He used to be a Steward at Wimbledon back in ’77, you see. “It was an experience I will never forget,” he said, his eyes twinkling as he relived those memories.

And then there’s Mrs Pamela Urquhart, a die-hard Novak Djokovic fan. She was gutted he didn’t win, but she’s hopeful for a comeback next year. Bless her, she was so passionate about it.

Our manager Helen summed it up perfectly: “We love to make events like this special and memorable for the residents. It’s all about recreating those feelings of nostalgia. Here at Mulberry House, we offer a varied social calendar to keep everyone mentally stimulated, active, and connected to the community.” And we’re already buzzing for our next event – a Barn Dance in just a few weeks!
