At Blackwater Mill Residential Home, Newport Isle of Wight, we have been remembering those who we have lost from the armed service in the line of duty at this centenary for the end of the First World War. We planted a cherry tree as a Remembrance Day memorial to mark this. The Isle of Wight County Press were invited down to join us, as residents planted poppies by the newly planted tree. Inside, we had a selection of cakes and refreshments for residents and visitors to enjoy, freshly prepared by our chefs. Over the past few weeks residents have been making poppies attached to wooden crosses, which we gave out throughout the day. We were very lucky to be joined by Cadet MC2 Morgan Evans and Marine Cadet Lance Corporal Kyle Thorne, who read a poem to mark the occasion. Lest We Forget.
