Residents at Mulberry House Care Home were all smiles on 20th February as they welcomed back a very special visitor in celebration of Love Your Pet Day — the much-loved Chief.
Chief, with his gentle nature and wagging tail, has become a firm favourite at the home, and his return sparked a wave of warmth, laughter and heartfelt memories. From the moment he padded through the door, there were outstretched hands ready for a stroke and familiar voices calling his name.
The visit quickly turned into a beautiful morning of reminiscing. Residents shared stories of childhood pets, loyal companions from family life, and the little quirks that made their own dogs so unforgettable. For some, it was the first time in a long while that they had been able to sit and stroke a dog again — a simple pleasure that meant more than words can say.
Pet visits have a wonderful way of bringing comfort and connection. The presence of a calm, friendly dog can ease anxiety, spark conversation and encourage gentle movement. At Mulberry House, it was clear to see the positive impact as rooms filled with smiles and animated storytelling.
The home manager for Mulberry House said:
“It was truly heartwarming to see the joy Chief brought to our residents. Days like Love Your Pet Day give us the chance to create moments that feel familiar and meaningful. For many of our residents, dogs have been part of their life story, so having Chief here helped unlock some very special memories.”
Mulberry House regularly welcomes visitors from the local community and is committed to creating opportunities that nurture wellbeing, connection and happiness for those who live there.
