Donkeys bring smiles, memories and plenty of nose nudges to Inglefield Nursing & Residential Home

Residents at Inglefield Nursing & Residential Home enjoyed a rather special visit this week, as two gentle donkeys arrived to celebrate World Donkey Day.
The home welcomed Geraldine and Daphne from a local donkey sanctuary, giving residents the chance to spend time with the much-loved animals in the garden.
The visit proved to be a wonderful morning of smiles, conversation and happy memories, with residents brushing the donkeys’ soft coats, enjoying gentle nose nudges and sharing stories about working donkeys they remembered from years gone by.
Geraldine quickly became known as the social butterfly of the visit, making sure she stopped to see everyone, while Daphne won hearts with her calm nature and soulful eyes.
Laura Birkett, Director for Inglefield Nursing & Residential Home said:
“Geraldine and Daphne brought so much warmth and happiness into the home. There is something incredibly calming about being around animals, and our residents loved every minute of it. It was lovely to see so many smiles and hear residents sharing their own memories of donkeys from earlier in life.
“We are very grateful to the sanctuary for taking the time to visit us. It was a simple morning, but one that meant a great deal to everyone here.”
Animal visits are a popular part of life at Inglefield, helping to spark memories, encourage conversation and bring moments of joy to residents.
The visit was a perfect way to mark World Donkey Day and celebrate the special bond between people and animals.
