Gardening club helps memories bloom at The Orchards Residential Home

Residents at The Orchards Residential Home were delighted to welcome back their much-loved gardening club, with one recent session proving especially popular among the home’s gentlemen.

The weekly Tuesday activity brings residents together to enjoy conversations about gardening, plants and vegetables, while also sparking fond memories of time spent tending their own gardens over the years.

Mark, the home’s gardener, regularly visits to lead the sessions and share his knowledge with residents. His visits are always warmly received, with residents enjoying the chance to learn more about plants and vegetables while taking part in an activity that feels both familiar and meaningful.

The gardening club offers far more than just practical tips. It also gives residents the chance to reminisce about growing fruit and vegetables in their own gardens, sharing stories and experiences from years gone by.

A spokesperson for The Orchards Residential Home said: “It has been lovely to have our gardening club back. The residents really enjoy spending time with Mark and hearing his advice and knowledge about plants and vegetables. It also brings back so many happy memories and creates lovely conversations about the gardens they used to care for themselves.”

The activity continues to be a favourite at the home, combining companionship, shared interests and the simple pleasure of talking about the things residents have loved throughout their lives.
