Our wonderful residential home in Poole, Kingland House has achieved a ‘Good’ overall rating from the CQC after being inspected in August 2020.
The Care Quality Commission inspects care homes based on 5 key areas. The government body rated Kingland House Residential Home ‘Good’ in 3 out of 3 areas in a focused inspection which considered the sections ‘Safe’, ‘Effective’ and ‘Well-Led’. In the previous inspection, these areas had been ‘Requires Improvement’ with the remaining areas achieving a ‘Good’ rating. This means that Kingland House can now celebrate a ‘Good’ in all 5 areas! Well done to all the team!
The manager of the Buckland Care residential home, Maria Livesley who has been at Kingland House since October 2018, is ecstatic with the result which she has been working hard with all the staff to achieve since she arrived at Kingland House.
She said, “In the midst of all the misery around Covid-19, this brilliant news could not have come at a better time and has really boosted everyone’s morale. I am so proud of all the staff and would like to thank the community and families of residents for their ongoing support.” The glowing CQC report emphasised Maria’s commitment to the role with one staff member commenting to inspectors that Maria’s “genuine passion for the residents is remarkable” and that she is “very knowledgeable, welcoming and is always striving to find ways to improve Kingland House”.
The report highlighted the improvements of the home with one person commenting, “Residents are happier, smiling, chatting, taking an interest in the activities provided by the team”. It also described the contentment of the staff with one employee saying, “I am proud and happy to work here” and another saying. “It is a very heart-warming place to work and staff take their time to listen, engage and help residents in any way they can”.
