It was coats on and smiles all round as residents from The Orchards Care Home stepped out to enjoy the fresh air and fun of the annual duck race this week.

Armed with flasks and sandwiches, the group braved the spring chill for a cheerful riverside picnic before cheering on their brightly coloured ducks as they bobbed along the water. Despite the breeze, spirits were high and laughter flowed as freely as the stream.

The team at The Orchards, part of the Buckland Care family, always look for opportunities to keep residents connected with the local community and enjoying the great outdoors—whatever the weather.

“It was a lovely day out. A bit nippy, but nothing a warm coat and good company couldn’t fix!” said one resident, smiling as they recalled the race.
