Community figure Monty Elliott is back again this year at the Budleigh Scarecrow competition. You may have heard of Monty, a resident at The Firs Residential Home in Budleigh Salterton, village-famous for his contributions to the Britain In Bloom competition and his support for East Budleigh Tennis Club.
This is the second year The Firs Residential Home has supported Monty to create an impressive scarecrow. Monty has lived in East Budleigh all his life and has always entered the competition. You may have already spotted Monty’s depiction of the Queen’s Guard which has been keeping guard of the All Saints Church this month. This was chosen by Monty and his dedicated team of helpers to commemorate the Queen’s Jubilee this year.
Manager of The Firs, Nikki Shayler said, “We are delighted to have been able to support Monty again this year with such a fabulous scarecrow. It really does bring him such joy and the staff love being involved too!”
