Residents from The Orchards Care Home enjoyed a fantastic afternoon at Nova School, marking the grand celebration of the Festival of Care Home Athletes. The event, organised by Swindon Borough Council, was the culmination of a 12-week ‘Movement to Music’ programme designed to encourage physical activity, social engagement, and friendly competition among care home residents.
Bringing together participants from different care homes, the festival featured four exciting games, with The Orchards proudly taking home the top spot in the golf event. Spirits were high as residents showcased their skills and cheered one another on, embracing the joy of movement and community.
The celebration was made even more special with refreshments, medals for all participants, and certificates recognising everyone’s achievements. The Orchards team extends their heartfelt thanks to the pupils who supported the event and to Swindon Borough Council for organising such a wonderful initiative.
“It’s been an incredible experience for our residents, and today’s celebration was the perfect way to bring everyone together,” said the homes activity lead. “Staying active and social is so important, and events like this make a real difference in residents’ well-being.”
The Orchards Care Home remains committed to providing enriching activities that promote health, happiness, and meaningful connections. The team looks forward to continuing their involvement in future initiatives that support active living for older adults.
