Unicorns, Laughter and a Surprise Spark of Talent at Mulberry House

Residents at Mulberry House Residential Home were treated to a truly magical afternoon this week, as celebrated author and illustrator Sarah McIntyre paid a special visit to the home.

Known for her imaginative storytelling and playful characters, Sarah brought along her creative flair – and a few surprise guests from the pages of her books – to host a fun and interactive masterclass. The theme? How to draw a grumpy unicorn, of course!

Laughter echoed through the home as residents picked up their pencils and joined in, following Sarah’s friendly step-by-step guide. From wonky horns to comically cross expressions, each drawing was unique – and every single one proudly displayed with a smile.

“It was wonderful to see everyone so engaged,” said a member of the team at Mulberry House. “Sarah’s energy and warmth filled the room, and we discovered quite a few hidden artistic talents among our residents!”

Sarah also took time to talk about her books, share stories from her journey as an author, and chat with residents about their favourite childhood reads. The event sparked memories, laughter, and a real sense of connection – not just with Sarah, but with each other.

The team at Mulberry House are committed to bringing joy, creativity and meaningful moments into everyday life – and this visit certainly ticked every box.
