Residents at West Bank Residential Home in Ross-on-Wye enjoyed a day out with a difference when they boarded a bus without being told where they were going.
The home organised its very own ‘Magical Mystery Tour’, with residents setting off from Ross-on-Wye and having to wait to discover their final destination.
There was plenty of laughter along the way, particularly when the bus passed Usk Prison and the West Bank team jokingly suggested they had arrived at their mystery destination.
Thankfully, the bus carried on and residents soon discovered they were actually heading to the much more picturesque Llandegfedd Lake in South Wales.
Once there, residents enjoyed a picnic overlooking the lake, complete with cups of tea and ice creams, as well as the chance to enjoy the fresh air and spend time together somewhere new.
The trip was made possible with the help of Ross Action Bus and driver Dominic, who helped make the journey itself part of the fun.
Judy the home manager for West Bank Residential Home said: “We wanted to do something a little bit different and thought it would be great fun if nobody knew where we were going.
“The residents were brilliant sports. When we passed Usk Prison and suggested that might be our destination, some of the expressions on their faces were absolutely priceless!
“Llandegfedd Lake was thankfully much better received. We had a wonderful afternoon with a picnic, ice creams, cups of tea and lots of laughter.
“For us, days like this are what life at West Bank is all about. It doesn’t always have to be a big, elaborate occasion. Sometimes getting on a bus together, going somewhere beautiful and having a good laugh along the way creates the happiest memories.”
