The Orchards Residential Home recently celebrated the King’s Coronation in high spirits with a series of lively preparations, culminating in a grand party. The home was beautifully decorated and the local community was invited to join the upcoming celebrations.
In honour of the grand event, local supermarket Waitrose generously donated a selection of delicious cakes to add to the festive spread. The home’s bar area was tastefully decorated, and even the resident Elvis Presley was dressed up for the important occasion. The ladies in the home crafted their own hats for the event, while the maintenance team busied themselves with exterior decorations, ensuring the entire community knew about the upcoming party at The Orchards.
The Coronation weekend was filled with music and games, and on the big day, residents got up bright and early to secure the best seats for the viewing. The day was filled with indulgence in cakes and tea, an amusing photoshoot with the King, a playful game of ‘splat the king’, and a refreshing glass of Pimm’s to follow.
Thanks to the hard work of the kitchen staff and generous donations from locals and family members, the buffet was extensive and delectable. The eventful day was topped off with Disco Dave and his karaoke, providing an enjoyable evening of sing-alongs and dancing for all.
“We wanted to create a truly memorable celebration for our residents,” said the home manager Julie. “We’re grateful to everyone who contributed, especially the families who came and joined in our celebration. It was a day of joy and unity, which we believe is a fitting tribute to the King’s Coronation.”
The Orchards Residential Home is proud to have been part of this historic event and to have shared it with their community.
