Residents at Willow Bank care home were delighted to welcome two very special four-legged visitors when miniature ponies Lollipop and Moomin came along to brighten their day.
The gentle pair made their way around the home, visiting residents in the communal lounges, sunrooms and bedrooms to make sure everyone had the opportunity to meet them.
Residents’ faces lit up as they stroked the ponies’ soft coats and enjoyed some quiet, heartwarming moments with them. The visit also sparked plenty of laughter and conversation, with residents sharing fond memories of much-loved pets and animals from their younger years.
Animal visits can bring comfort, companionship and a wonderful sense of calm, as well as encouraging residents to connect, reminisce and enjoy something a little different.
Carole Hall, Home Manager at Willow Bank, said: “It was such a special morning. Lollipop and Moomin were incredibly gentle, and it was lovely to see how naturally our residents connected with them.
“There were smiles everywhere, and the visit brought back some wonderful memories for many of our residents. We’re so grateful to the ponies and their handlers for giving everyone a day to remember.”
