Willow Bank Care Home Hosts Dementia Awareness Talk and Auction in Support of Alzheimer’s Research UK

Willow Bank Care Home is proud to have hosted an impactful dementia awareness event, driven by the generous support of Pershore Town FC and community advocate Jordan Adams. Jordan, a former captain of Pershore Town FC, bravely shared his story of living with a rare genetic condition that will likely lead to Frontotemporal Dementia. Now, he dedicates his life to raising awareness and funds for dementia research, having already set a goal to raise £1 million for Alzheimer’s Research UK.

The event welcomed a wonderful turnout, with attendees eager to learn more about dementia, reduce stigma, and support a meaningful cause. Willow Bank’s Dementia and Wellbeing Lead, Paul, presented an informative session, helping to spread understanding and compassion throughout our community. As Paul expressed, “Knowledge is powerful – when we work together, we can truly make a difference in how we understand and support those facing dementia.”

Adding to the spirit of generosity, Pershore Town FC’s players made a heartfelt donation of a signed team shirt, now available for auction with all proceeds going to Alzheimer’s Research UK. The auction invites supporters to place bids in the comments section of their Facebook post, with a reserve price starting at £50. The auction will close on 30th November, after which the highest bidder will be invited to formally receive this exclusive shirt.

Jordan’s journey is both a testament to his courage and a rallying call for all of us to support dementia research. Diagnosed at 23 with a faulty MAPT gene, he faces an early onset of dementia. Determined to fight for a cure, Jordan said, “We’re at the beginning of the end for dementia, and I want everyone to understand this is not a natural part of ageing.”

Willow Bank Care Home, Pershore Town FC, and our local community are honoured to support Jordan and his mission. Together, through education and fundraising, we can bring hope for a future where no family faces the devastating effects of dementia alone.
Watch Jordan’s story on ITV’s Good Morning Britain featured on Willow Bank’s Facebook page and join in supporting this important cause. Every penny raised brings us closer to a world without dementia.
