Willow Bank Residential Home Celebrates Successful Dementia Action and Awareness Week with Sponsored Swim

Amber has completed her swim in support of Alzheimer's Society

Willow Bank is thrilled to announce the successful completion of Amber’s sponsored swim, which took place during Dementia Action and Awareness Week. Amber, a dedicated staff member, embarked on a week-long challenge to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society and increase awareness of dementia.

Throughout the month of May, Willow Bank Residential Home actively participated in various initiatives to support Dementia’s month. As part of these efforts, Amber committed herself to a remarkable swimming challenge. Every day for a week, she swam 1200 meters (48 lengths), covering a total distance of 8400 meters (336 lengths) over the week. Her incredible accomplishment is equivalent to swimming just over 5 miles!

Amber’s determination to raise awareness for dementia and support the Alzheimer’s Society has been truly commendable. The sponsored swim not only showcased her personal dedication but also brought the entire community at Willow Bank Residential Home together. The staff and residents cheered and supported Amber throughout her journey, creating an environment of solidarity and encouragement.

The response from the community has been overwhelming, and Willow Bank Residential Home is grateful for the incredible support received. With the help of generous donors, they have raised £150, which will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Society.

Willow Bank Residential Home extends heartfelt thanks to all those who have already made donations and supported this initiative. The outpouring of generosity and the collective effort to raise awareness for dementia have been truly inspiring. The home also appreciates everyone who has followed Amber’s journey, as their support has been invaluable in spreading awareness and understanding of this condition.
