Willow Bank Residential Home in Pershore has proudly raised £668 for Alzheimer’s Research UK following a joyful all-day Singathon held on Thursday 22nd May—an event that brought together residents, staff, families, and local performers for 11 hours of non-stop music and celebration.
The home was alive with singing, dancing, and clapping throughout the day, making it a first-of-its-kind event for Willow Bank and a memorable experience for all who attended. The aim was to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer’s Research UK while bringing a little extra joy to residents and the local community.
The team was delighted to welcome Penny Dyer-Griffiths from ARUK, whose presence and ongoing support made the day even more special, along with Anne from the Evesham and Pershore District Fundraising Group, who joined in the fun.
Willow Bank’s kitchen team kept energy levels high with delicious food served throughout the day, while staff from every department pitched in to ensure the event ran smoothly—creating a relaxed, uplifting atmosphere filled with laughter and togetherness.
A full programme of talented entertainers gave their time and talents freely, including Wes Mason, Heather Louise Singer, Rays Here to Entertain You, Ian Hardman, Andy Marsden, Dartagnan, and Martin Leonard Entertainer. Their performances brought smiles and even a few tears of joy to residents and visitors alike.
Despite a few technical hiccups with the live stream, the day was a huge success, made even more meaningful by the overwhelming support from families and the public.
One family member, Julie Goodfellow, shared this message of thanks:
“The effect of music on the residents is amazing and beneficial. The staff continued to provide the care everyone needed as well as encouraging a lot of fun and laughter… The idea of the picnic lunch was excellent. Thank you for including relatives in this.”
The team at Willow Bank is deeply grateful for every donation, word of encouragement, and moment shared. They are currently consolidating the final fundraising total and plan to share an update soon.
This event is just one example of the home’s ongoing commitment to creating vibrant, meaningful experiences for residents—while supporting vital causes that matter to the wider community.
