Residents and team members at Hartwell Lodge have marked a very special moment for the future with the burial of their 2025 Time Capsule.
The capsule, which will be opened in 2035, has been carefully filled with treasures that capture everyday life at the home. Inside are craft items made by residents, copies of the autumn menu, a poem, a “Hello to 2035” letter, and a collection of words staff and residents chose to describe Hartwell. It also includes Daily Sparkle activity guides, local newspapers, Buckland Care leaflets, a copy of Buckland’s core values, a two-week activity schedule, and highlights from 2025 so far – complete with photos and comments from Hartwell’s Facebook page.
The burial itself was a hands-on affair, with residents joining in with the digging, placing final mementos into the capsule, and enjoying conversations about what life might look like ten years from now. They were joined by family members and members of the local community, who came along to share in the experience and watch this unique moment in Hartwell’s history unfold.
Home Manager Jennifer Daly said:
“This has been such a wonderful project for everyone at Hartwell Lodge. It’s about capturing not only the big events but also the small, everyday moments that make life here so special. We’re proud to know that in 2035, residents, staff, families, and members of the community will be able to look back and see how we lived, laughed, and cared together in 2025.”
The Time Capsule project is part of Buckland Care’s wider initiative to bring homes, residents, and communities together through memorable and meaningful experiences.
