Hartwell Lodge Care Home has thanked residents, relatives, team members and the wider community for their generous donations of items for Sophie’s Legacy.
The care home recently collected donations for the charity, which was created in memory of Sophie Fairall, who sadly died from cancer aged 10. Sophie’s Legacy supports families who find themselves in hospital with their child, helping to provide practical essentials and comfort during some of the most difficult days imaginable.
The collection at Hartwell Lodge brought people together around a cause that has touched many hearts. Residents and team members were delighted to see so many items donated, with every contribution helping to support families who may be spending long days and nights on hospital wards.
Stacey Parkhill, Home Manager at Hartwell Lodge Care Home, said: “We are so grateful to everyone who donated items for Sophie’s Legacy. It is such a meaningful charity, and we know these donations will make a real difference to families who are going through an incredibly difficult time.
“Our residents always enjoy being part of something that helps others, and this collection has been a lovely reminder of how kind and generous our local community is.”
Sophie’s Legacy was founded to continue Sophie’s wishes, including improving food for children in hospital, ensuring parents are fed when staying with their child, and supporting families through hospital stays.
Stacey added: “Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness can bring comfort when people need it most. Thank you again to everyone who supported the collection. Your kindness really does matter.”
Hartwell Lodge Care Home provides residential care in a warm, friendly and homely setting, with residents regularly taking part in activities and community projects that help them stay connected to local life.
