Four-legged friends took centre stage at Mulberry House Care Home as residents, families and friends came together for the home’s very own dog show.
The event saw dogs of all shapes and sizes put their best paws forward, much to the delight of residents who enjoyed meeting the canine competitors, watching the judging and, of course, making a fuss of their favourites.
There was plenty of friendly competition as the dogs showed off their personalities, with prizes and plenty of praise on offer throughout the day.
For residents, the event was also a lovely opportunity to spend time with animals and reminisce about much-loved pets they have owned over the years.
The team at Mulberry House regularly looks for activities that bring people into the home and create opportunities for residents to continue enjoying the things they love.
Helen, Home Manager at Mulberry House, said: “What a brilliant day we had! There were wagging tails everywhere and I’m not sure who enjoyed themselves more – our residents or the dogs.
“Animals have such a wonderful way of bringing people together. For some of our residents, seeing the dogs brought back memories of pets they had throughout their lives and prompted lots of lovely conversations and stories.
“There was a bit of friendly competition, of course, but really the day was all about having fun, bringing people together and giving our residents something a little different to enjoy.
“A huge thank you to everyone who came along, particularly our four-legged guests who were very well behaved – most of the time!”
The dog show is one of a varied programme of activities and events at Mulberry House designed around residents’ interests and to maintain strong links with families and the wider community.
