Kingland House Residential Home’s ‘Knit & Natter’ Afternoon Brings Warmth and Community Spirit

Residents Knitting at Kingland House

Kingland House Residential Home has been buzzing with activity as residents, staff, and community members gathered for a delightful ‘Knit & Natter’ afternoon. The event, filled with tea, cake, and the gentle clinking of knitting needles, provided an opportunity for everyone to come together, share stories, and contribute to a heartwarming cause.

The dedicated knitters at Kingland House have been hard at work, diligently creating squares that will be sewn together to form cozy blankets. These blankets serve as a symbol of comfort and warmth, not only for those who receive them but also for the residents who pour their love and care into each stitch.

Last year, the home sent out over 20 blankets to Ukraine at the onset of the war. These handmade treasures provided solace and support to those affected by the conflict, offering a physical reminder that they are not alone. The impact of these gestures of kindness cannot be overstated, and Kingland House is proud to have made a difference in the lives of others.

To continue their noble mission, Kingland House kindly requests donations of size 4mm knitting needles and double knitting wool. These materials will enable the residents to continue their knitting projects and create more blankets for those in need. If you have any spare knitting supplies to donate, please consider contributing to this meaningful cause. Your support will go a long way in bringing comfort and joy to others.

Kingland House has also restarted their beloved ‘knit & natter groups.’ These gatherings provide an opportunity for individuals who share a passion for knitting or simply enjoy friendly conversations to come together and create something beautiful. If you are interested in joining these sessions, please contact Maggie and let her know. All skill levels are welcome, as these groups provide a supportive and inclusive environment for everyone to enjoy.
