Willow Bank Residential Home in Pershore, Worcestershire officially opened the Cotswold Dementia Cafe on the 13th February. We were very lucky to have the Mayor and Mayoress of Pershore, Councillor Chris Parsons MBE and Mrs Jan Parsons to cut the ribbon.
Around 35 locals, relatives and social workers joined us all at the Cotswold Dementia Café, which features images of different areas of the Cotswolds on its walls. The Dementia Café, which has been registered with the Alzheimer’s Society will be a free of charge, safe and supportive place for those in the local community who are affected by Dementia, their families and health professionals to come together and talk about their experiences.
The café has a 50s style interior, encouraging reminiscence for the residents of Willow Bank and any guests from the local community. Food company Dawn Foods in Evesham kindly donated cakes for the event, supplementing the cakes our lovely Head Chef Sarah made for the occasion and they will continue to donate them for every Dementia Café event.
Manager Carole said, “The event was a huge success and the Mayor had some very kind words about Willow Bank. We look forward to hosting the next event.”
The Dementia Café event will be held on the second Wednesday of every month and so the next event will be on the 13th March. Anyone interested in attending should speak to Carole, the manager on 01386 556844 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
We were also lucky enoigh to be featured in the Evesham Journal. Read the piece here.
