Residents and team members at Inglefield Nursing & Residential Home swapped their usual routine for a little French flair this week, as the home marked National Croissant Day with a two-day Parisian-themed celebration.
The festivities began with a hands-on baking session, where residents rolled, filled, and shaped their own croissants — choosing from chocolate, strawberry, and savoury fillings. Laughter filled the kitchen as the smell of freshly baked pastries drifted through the home.
The following day brought the much-anticipated “grand reveal”, with everyone gathering to enjoy the fruits of their labour. Croissants were sampled, opinions were shared (very enthusiastically), and the verdict was unanimous – délicieux.
To complete the experience, residents settled in for a classic French film during a cosy cinema hour, adding a gentle dose of nostalgia and culture to the afternoon. The Activities Team fully embraced the theme too, donning berets, scarves, and striped tops to bring the Parisian spirit to life.
The atmosphere throughout the home was warm, relaxed, and full of smiles. It was one of those days where a simple idea — a pastry and a bit of imagination – created moments of real connection, joy, and shared laughter.
At Inglefield, themed activities like this are about more than entertainment. They offer opportunities for creativity, reminiscence, and togetherness, helping residents continue to enjoy new experiences and familiar pleasures alike.
